Everyone has been asking how well these McGowens shoot, even me, so I finally got some bullets loaded up to do a ladder test on mine today. To say the least I am very impressed. My jaw is still draggin on the floor. Mine is a 26″ 10 twist, 308 bull barrel on a single shot “intermediate” action, sitting in a Richards Tactical stock. I loaded up some 168gr SMK’s using Varget, starting at 42gr and going up to 44gr in .5gr increments. I want to go up a little higher to see what it does, but didn’t have time to load more. Since I was starting out I seated them .025″ off the lands, and will mess with that later. C.O.L. is 2.875″. The third target had 4 shots in .202″, then I pulled one to the right. I think I got me a winner.
