I purchased a McGowen barrel for my Ruger 77 in 44 magnum. My goal was to have a 44-magnum rifle that would consistently shoot 2 MOA groups at 100 yards off a bench. After all, it’s just a pistol cartridge.

Well, I have put only 100 rounds through it and it consistently shoots 1 MOA or better. My best so far was a 3-shot group that measured 0.449”. The bullet diameter is 0.430. The two attached pics I shot today are of a 3-shot group that measured 0.654”. I am amazed! The barrel is a semi-heavy contour, 22 inches, with a 1 in 18 twist.

Please give John a pay raise, he earned it, and forward this email to him and all the McGowen gunsmiths. In this case, they accomplished the impossible.
