Our company offers a variety of different gunsmithing services, as listed below.  From rebarreling, threading, chambering, cutting, dovetails, drilling for scopes and accurizing your rifle.

Catering to our customers, our gunsmithing department is lead by John Disney. As a former Army small arms repairman and a graduate of the gunsmithing course at Colorado School of Trades, he has over 20 years of experience working on a variety of firearms. His love of firearms ensures that your firearm will be treated as if it had been his own.

Threading

*Note on Suppressor Threading: As different suppressor manufacturers have different specifications for the threading of your muzzle for their particular suppressor, we require that if you would like it threaded for your particular suppressor that thread specifications in the form of a drawing/print be supplied with your order to ensure that the muzzle is properly set up. Most suppressor manufacturers will either have a link on their website or can email you the specifications required for their suppressor.

Chambering

For most barrels, we offer short chambering services. The reasoning behind this is that when the barrel is chambered and threaded, it still requires a gunsmith to install it (except for the Savage & Remage Pre-Fit) as there may be other work, such as extractor cuts, that need to be done. It also limits the liability because if you install a short chambered barrel, a cartridge cannot be chambered and the bolt still closes. This is for your safety.

Clean

Special Throating

  • McGowen Precision Barrels only uses SAAMI spec chamber reamers in our chambering services. If you are using longer bullets and need your throat/freebore extended we require 3-4 full length sized dummy rounds (no powder, no primer) sent to us for this purpose. Remember that your dummy rounds need to made from full length sized brass (no as fired or un-sized dummies). If you require a throat that is shorter than what is typical on a SAAMI spec reamer, you will need to provide the reamer.
